A 1,500 Mile Gamble With A Songbird – English Sonnet Assignment
Let you upon my eyes be seen, indeed
For beauty knows not what hunger it makes
Nor does it see, in heart, a planted seed.
Yet miles I’ve traversed. Passion, it now wakes.
And sweetly sing to me your songs of love –
These lullabies of you and I as one.
I’ll write you poems of the stars above
As unity of souls has now begun.
Deliver unto me no melody
And I shall take my leave and, then, be gone.
No songs to sing save for an elegy.
The heart knows not your love but carries on.
So sing to me, your sweet serenity;
A lover’s lyric through eternity.
