Candle Light

Come stand with me in my candle light
away from the shadows that surround us in the night.

Scrape you, against my bones, your dagger of God;
And say to me, behind chattering teeth,
“Truth lies in your eyes.”

Scrape against my tattered skin, my canvas of a world
with roads made of scars.

Wither up, behind old stories
like a book out in the rain.

Love me for the demon I am
and dance with me again.

Scrape your words against my soul,

“I love you,

I will never let you go.”

Until the day we may see the world through the same eyes

come dance with me in this candle light,
as night turns to day and my flame dies.
